Program Description
Time To Know is a blended approach in which students use one-to-one laptops with interactive curriculum. In reading, teachers introduce lessons and lead discussions, and then students work on structured units on their laptops. For example, students learn to highlight parts of texts, review vocabulary, and focus on particular parts of speech or comprehension strategies. Teachers receive extensive professional development and coaching.
Program Outcomes
One study of Time To Know took place in a district near Dallas. Two schools using Time to Know in reading and math were compared to two control schools. On Texas state tests, Time To Know students gained more than control students in both subjects, with an effect size in reading of +0.34. This qualifies Time To Know in reading for the ESSA “Promising” category.
