Program Description

i-Ready Classroom Mathematics (iRCL) is a core K–8 math curriculum designed to build conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and student engagement. The program combines print and digital materials, including teacher guides, student workbooks, practice tools, and hands-on manipulatives. Lessons are grounded in the Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and emphasize discourse, reasoning, and real-world connections. iRCL also integrates professional learning supports to help teachers implement the curriculum effectively. The program is closely aligned with grade-level standards and is designed to support all learners, including those who need additional scaffolding.

Program Outcomes

A multi-state quasi-experimental study evaluated the impact of i-Ready Classroom Mathematics (iRCL) on students in Grades 3–5 using matched comparison groups across four states. After controlling for baseline differences, results showed that students in schools implementing iRCL outperformed similar peers on the spring i-Ready Diagnostic for Mathematics, with an average effect size of +0.10. Additionally, iRCL students were significantly more likely to meet Typical Growth (+0.17) and Stretch Growth (+0.16) targets. Positive effects were consistent across grades and especially pronounced in Grades 4 and 5. Subgroup analyses revealed significant benefits for students who were Hispanic, Black, economically disadvantaged, English learners, or had disabilities. These findings support a “Moderate” evidence rating for iRCL.

Staffing Requirements

No additional staff are required to use i-Ready Classroom Mathematics (iRCL). Implementations do require points of contact to assist with the initial set-up of iRCL and disseminate communications to other staff members. These points of contact will be guided by i-Ready Partners who offer assistance throughout the implementation period and beyond. Once set up, i-Ready’s easy, intuitive interface allows for schools to manage and maintain their own accounts.
